Summary

“But…What Will Happen to my Government Benefits if I take this Settlement?”

Naomi Harvey will explain the differences between the various, and often confusing; government benefits that claimants may be on, receiving or may need to qualify for in the future.  She will also talk about how settlements may impact these programs and ways to avoid disqualification for clients by using tools like Special Needs Trusts, Trigger Trusts, and MSA’s. Susan Gleason will explain how you can combine structured settlements with these tools to help clients manage their settlement dollars and make them last for their lifetime, and lastly, the speakers will discuss ABLE Accounts, and how these accounts allow their clients to receive money directly without impacting their benefits.
